I love technology, especially the web. The first time I ever realized this was back in 1997 when a cousin of mine sent me a link to a web site he created for his son, who had just been born. It included pictures from the ultrasound and right after birth, along with his newborn son's "stats" (weight, eye color, all that). That's no big deal now, but I was fascinated by this at the time. I suddenly realized, all at once, the potential for the web to bring people closer and share their lives with each other. After I built my first "cheesy" blink-tag-included web site, I was sold on being part of this industry. I realized that the internet encapsulates so much of what I enjoy: technology, writing, visual design and layout, and mass communication. Later on, I created a wedding web site for my sister's wedding. I had so much fun with it. I loved telling the story of their lives and how they met, and how having this "thing" for all the wedding attendees to see could only enhance the wedding experience.

Today, I still absolutely love these same possibilities for how the online world could affect our offline, real, world. My favorite applications on the web are the ones that allow me to keep in touch and share things with my friends, like Flickr and Facebook. And I think it's great I have gotten to work on products that contribute to that as well. But even with how far the web has come, I honestly believe we've barely scratched the surface of what's possible with ways that technology can connect us.
